He Hears Me (Personal Revelation)

"Revelation need not all come at once. It may be incremental. 'Saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more' (2 Nephi 28:30). Patience and perseverance are part of our eternal progression."Russell M. Nelson, Ask, Seek, Knock. Ensign, Nov. 2009.

"How wonderful it is that we believe in modern revelation. I cannot get over the feeling that if revelation were needed anciently, when life was simple, that revelation is also needed today, when life is complex. There never was a time in the history of the earth when men needed revelation more than they need it now."Gordon B. Hinckley, Inspirational Thoughts, Ensign, Sept. 2007.

"Even more amazing than modern technology is our opportunity to access information directly from heaven, without hardware, software, or monthly service fees. It is one of the most marvelous gifts the Lord has offered to mortals. It is His generous invitation to ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." Elder Nelson, Ask, Seek, Knock, Ensign, Nov. 2009, 81

"Our Heavenly Father loves His children. He hears the prayers of the humble and sincere of every nation, tongue, and people. He grants light to those who seek and honor Him and are willing to obey His commandments. We joyously proclaim that the faith of our Father is on the earth today." President Uchtdorf, "Faith of Our Father," Ensign, May 2008, 75

"It is also true that there is an order to things in the Church. When you are called to an office, you then receive revelation that belongs to that office that would not be given to others. "No member of the Church is esteemed by the Lord as more or less than any other. It just does not work that way! Remember, He is a father--our Father. The Lord is 'no respecter of persons.' " Elder Packer,"The Weak and the Simple of the Church," Ensign, Nov. 2007, 9

"The Spirit of Revelation much be in each and every individual, to know the plan of salvation and keep in the path that leads them to the presence of God." President Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 9:279

"This personal line of communication with our Heavenly Father through His Holy Spirit is the source of our testimony of truth, of our knowledge, and of our personal guidance from a loving Heavenly Father. It is an essential feature of His marvelous gospel plan, which allows each one of His children to receive a personal witness of its truth." Elder Oaks. Two Line of Communication. October 2010.

The Prophet Joseph Smith explained: “A person may profit by noticing the first intimation of the spirit of revelation; for instance, when you feel pure intelligence flowing into you, it may give you sudden strokes of ideas, so that by noticing it, you may find it fulfilled the same day or soon; … those things that were presented unto your minds by the Spirit of God, will come to pass; and thus by learning the Spirit of God and understanding it, you may grow into the principle of revelation, until you become perfect in Christ Jesus.” 15Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 151. qtd in Personal Revelation: The Gift, the Test, and the Promise.  Elder Packer. October 1994.

"Personal revelation is the way we know for ourselves the most important truths of our existence." Elder Hales. Personal Revelation: The Teachings and Examples of the Prophets. October 2007.

"Most individuals limit their learning primarily to what they hear or what they read. Be wise. Develop the skill of learning by what you see and particularly by what the Holy Ghost prompts you to feel. Consciously seek to learn by what you see and feel, and your capacity to do so will expand through consistent practice. Ask in faith for such help. Live to be worthy of it. Seek to recognize it. Write down in a secure place the important things you learn from the Spirit. You will find that as you write down precious impressions, often more will come. Also, the knowledge you gain will be available throughout your life. Always, day or night, wherever you are, whatever you are doing, seek to recognize and respond to the direction of the Spirit. Express gratitude for the help received and obey it. This practice will reinforce your capacity to learn by the Spirit. It will permit the Lord to guide your life and to enrich the use of every other capacity latent in your being." Elder Scott. To Acquire Knowledge and the Strength to Use it Wisley. BYU Devotional. June 2002.
